Describe Yourself: Mostly I would describe myself as confused. I was raised with a strong work ethic, focused on the belief that if I worked hard at everything I did, it would pay off in the end. Well, I've been hard at it for awhile now, and instead of feeling like I'm seeing a payoff, I feel like I'm going backwards instead sometimes. So I'm at a point of reconsidering everything I ever thought was true about life. On Gather, I'm Looking For ...: Some social interaction, some people to communicate with, some grown up comments and feedback. Interests Lately I've been listening to: Christian radio stations, for the music and the uplifting messages. I'm currently reading: Angels and Demons--Dan Brown The last movie I watched was: Bangkok Dangerous My must-see show is: The six-o-clock local news. I'd love to visit: Sweden and Italy I'm curious about: Where life will take me in the next ten years. Topping my Wish List is: Understanding some of the tragedies of the world. Favorite Music, Artists, Genres: My "favorite" music varies from one time to another. My playlists include a wide range of styles, from Beethoven to Kenny Chesney, from Jewel to Metallica, from gospel hymns to jazz. Favorite Books, Writers, Genres: I am a voracious reader. Among my favorite authors are Anita Shreve, Alice Hoffman, Joyce Carol Oates, and Margaret Atwood, but my reading tastes are definitely not limited to those. Favorite Movies, Actors, Genres: Too many to name, I suppose. I love comedies and dramas. I love any movie that is unexpectedly good, the ones that don't look that appealing but that I can't turn away from when I start watching them. Favorite TV Shows, Actors: The CBS Sunday morning show. I usually am at church so I don't get to see it, but on those rare days I'm hope, I love to see all the stories they cover. Favorite Places: The Great Lakes, Hartwick Pines, my grandparents houses, grandpa's garden, around the table with my family. Interests and Activities: I love to write, to read, to garden, and to be in or near the water. I also love to cut out images and create collages. I like doing home repairs and decorating. I love to watch my oldest son wrestle, my middle son skateboard, and my youngest son search for the activity he will love most. Wish List: I want to publish my novel, I want to travel, I want to find something to do with my life that feels more fulfilling than where I am now, I want to see my sons grow into happy, satisfied people, I want to have lots of grandchildren...someday, but not too soon. I choose to teach because:: It gives me lots to talk about at social gatherings, I live for the punishment of a roomful of high school freshmen, I have nothing better to do than read essays every night.
